They will be available from participating destinations
A new initiative aiming to encourage people to travel the Isle of Man whilst practicing their Manx to mark the Year of the Manx Language will launch next month.
The 'Mannin Aboo' passport will see participants collect stamps every time they speak the Island's mother tongue.
Ten thousand will be printed initially and distributed across the Island’s primary schools, made available in high visitor footfall locations (the Sea Terminal, the Isle of Man Airport and Town Halls across the Island) as well as participating destinations.
More passports will be printed subject to demand.
Tiffany Kerruish, Coordinator for Blein ny Gaelgey - the Year of the Manx Language - explains:
Culture Vannin are currently looking for destinations to take part from three categories:
- Shapp / Shop
- Cultoor / Culture
- Bee as Jough / Food & Drink
The scheme is suitable for any business or attraction from these three categories that interacts face to face with its customers.
Sign up for free by completing the online form found here: https://yearofmanx.im/become-destination/
Once the scheme gets underway, completed passports can then be sent back to Culture Vannin via freepost to be entered into a prize draw.
If you want to find out more, or your company would like to get involved, you can find all the details HERE.
