Facebook hack extent still unknown

Users advised to safeguard data

There's a risk millions of Facebook users have had sensitive information compromised.

The social media site has apologised for a data breach affecting up to 50 million account holders worldwide, which was identified over the weekend.

Hundreds of Islanders are thought to have been affected by the hack, which exploited a security flaw in one of Facebook's privacy features.

Douglas firm Computer Network Defence is advising members of the public to take greater steps to safeguard their data.

CEO Andy Cuff says it's still unclear how much - if any - data has fallen into the wrong hands.
