New mental health facility for Island

Project's special signficance for CM

The Chief Minister has described the new acute inpatient mental health facility at Manannan Court as "a better service for the people of the Isle of Man".

Howard Quayle, who was Minister for Health and Social Care in the last government, gave a heartfelt speech to invited guests as the facility was officially opened this week, on the Noble's hospital site in Braddan.

He presided over the beginnings of the project whilst in his previous role, and described it as one of the highlights of his first term as an MHK.

The current DHSC Minister Kate Beecroft, also said a few words as a plaque was unveiled at the £7.2million building.

Replacing Grienagh Court, the building acts as an inpatient service for adults and the elderly requiring acute mental health treatment.
