Misadventure verdict recorded
The family of a popular local road racer has released a statement following the conclusion of the inquest into his death.
Forty-six-year-old Gary Carswell was fatally injured during a practice session at the Jurby Motodrome on April 11 this year.
A verdict of misadventure was reached at Douglas courthouse on Wednesday.
The court heard how he lost control of the rear wheel of his 1000cc Honda Fireblade, before colliding with a pit wall.
There were attempts to resuscitate Mr Carswell - a civil engineer from Ballure Glen, Ramsey - but they were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at Noble's Hospital.
Coroner of Inquests John Needham thanked all those who assisted at the scene.
