DoI plans to being reconstruction of highway next year

Feedback is being sought on parking on Port St Mary High Street ahead of a reconstruction scheme getting underway next year.

The Department of Infrastructure is considering two options for parking once the road is rebuilt next year.

The plans were on display in the town earlier this week, but are now available to view on the government's website.

The DoI has also published a timeline for the project, after the minister recently confirmed work will get underway early next year.

Following a recent radar survey to map underground infrastructure, a pre-condition survey or adjacent buildings will be getting underway this month.

Contractors will be invited to bid for the works, with a six-week tendering process expected to conclude by mid-December.

Treasury funding is expected to be finalised by the end of April 2026, enabling on-site works to commence in mid-May, with completion expected by December 2026.

The department is also currently inviting expressions of interest for cost consultant services for the project on government's procurement portal.

Those who wish to comment on either parking option can contact Highways Services by emailing enquiries@highways.gov.im by 30 September.
