Authority says site falsely claims to represent a licensed Manx financial services firm
The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority has issued a public warning about a website it says is fraudulently claiming links to a licensed Manx company.
The regulator says the site - operating at jmscsl.com - claims to represent JMS Corporate Services Limited and lists an address in Douglas while advertising a range of financial services, including investment services.
However, the authority says its investigation found the website has no connection to any legitimate company incorporated in the Isle of Man and the entity behind it is not authorised to provide financial services from or within the Island.
Steps have been taken to have the website removed.
The regulator warns that anyone who has interacted with the site could be at risk of fraud or the unauthorised collection of personal information which could lead to identity theft.
Anyone who has had dealings with the website is being urged to contact police and report any suspicious online activity to the Isle of Man Cyber Security Centre.
