Fine for Douglas man after one-car collision

£500 and £50 court costs for failing to service car

A Douglas man's received points on his licence following a one-vehicle collision in the north of the Island.

21-year-old Harry Michael Craig pleaded guilty to one charge of driving without due care and attention.

He also admitted having two defective tyres on his car.

Craig's car turned over twice after he failed to negotiate a right hand turn at Brandywell Road in Lezayre back in May this year.

The court heard how he wasn't speeding or showing off in what were described as fine, dry conditions with good visibility.

The incident was put down to a momentary lapse of concentration - with the defective tyres not contributing to the accident.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes fined him a total of £500 with £50 costs, adding he's learnt a valuable lesson after failing to have a service check on the car since he bought it.

Craig's licence has also been endorsed with six penalty points.
