Officers from Douglas Station also attend chimney fire
Fire crews were called out to a tractor fire in the Port Soderick area yesterday (25 February).
Two engines from Douglas Station were called out at around 3pm, with the blaze 'well established' by the time officers arrived.
It was safely brought under control, and crews left the scene after an hour.
Meanwhile, crews from Douglas Station were called out again last night at around 8pm to attend a chimney fire.
It's prompted the following reminder from the Fire and Rescue Service:
- Have your chimney swept at least twice a year if burning wood or coal regularly or once a year for smokeless fuels
- Only burn properly seasoned wood (below 20% moisture)
- Avoid treated wood, rubbish, or cardboard
- Ensure you have:
- A working smoke alarm
- A carbon monoxide alarm
