Incident near Johnny Watterson Lane prompts investigation

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fire in Douglas which is believed to have been started after a firework was set off in a field.

It happened on Saturday, 1 August at around 6.40pm next to Johnny Watterson Lane.

Now, two weeks later, officers want to speak to witnesses who saw anyone in the area of the field immediately prior to the fire starting.

It led to smoke obscuring visibility for drivers in the area and required the work of the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service to stop the blaze from spreading and posing danger to anyone in the vicinity.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Headquarters on 631212.
