Crews were called out to fire near St John's on Sunday
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has issued a reminder to the public to inform them of any planned controlled burns, to avoid unnecessary callouts.
At approximately 4.30pm on Sunday (12 February), crews from Peel and Douglas Stations responded to reports of a fire in the open near to St.Johns.
On arrival, crews discovered that this was a controlled burn being carried out.
Crews liaised with the responsible persons on scene, who confirmed they were in control and didn’t require any assistance.
The service said that whilst the 999 call was made with good intentions by a concerned member of the public, to avoid unnecessary callouts, they ask that the Emergency Services Joint Control Room is contacted on 697327, stating the location of the area being burned.
They would also ask that a contact number be given for the responsible person and that it is monitored for the duration of the burn.
