Over 300 firefighters died responding to the attack in NY
The Island's Fire and Rescue service have joined colleagues from across the UK in paying tribute to the 343 firefighters who died responding to the 9/11 terrorist attack.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the attack.
Crews stood for a minute of silence outside of Douglas Fire Station to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice paid by those who ran into danger to help others.
Chief Fire Office Mark Christian said crews observed the date every year but that the anniversary felt 'slightly more poignant'.
He added: "This has been replicated across every fire and rescue service around the British Isles today. So it's not just here at Douglas.
"This is right across the UK and I think it is important that we do remember the ultimate sacrifice that was that was paid that day by so many."
