Advice issued on how to barbecue safely
Manx residents are being urged to take extra care when using disposable barbeques.
The plea comes from the Island’s Fire and Rescue Service, which has recently attended a number of gorse fires.
People are being urged to avoid placing disposable barbecues directly onto grass and other surfaces which burn easily during the spell of sunny weather.
The fire service is reminding residents to wait until barbecues are completely cool before disposing of them in the bin.
Fire crews hope this warning will help reduce the risk of fires and put no extra pressure on emergency services.
