Incident prompts urgent message to residents
Firefighters were mobilised this week after a gorse fire broke out in Jurby.
Teams from Ramsey and Kirk Michael were dispatched to the scene at 2.16pm on Wednesday (20 April).
On arrival, crews found a gorse hedge alight with the flames quickly spreading to nearby fields.
Teams spent around an hour at the scene to extinguish the blaze and stop it reigniting.
The cause was found to be burning off in a nearby area.
As a result, the fire service is now urging residents that any burn off should be monitored at all times, extinguishing equipment must be nearby and consider the location of the fire as well as weather conditions.
