First Manx Students' Union launched

Focus on encouraging discounts, special rates and nightlife

A Manx Students' Union (MSU) has been established to help create a more welcoming environment for those returning from university to the Island.

Organisers are aiming to work with businesses to encourage 'student-friendly services', which match those on offer in the UK.

These include discounts, special rates on public transport, and student-focused nightlife.

The MSU also intends to 'confront welfare issues unique to Island students, and provide up-to-date information about finances'.

Believed to be the first of its kind, the union is open to all in higher education, both on and off Island.

Founder of the MSU Catherine Woolley says the idea is to help students look forward to coming home once studies are finished:

Anyone interested in joining the Manx Students' Union can email manxstudentsunion@gmail.com or find the group on Facebook.
