Two men safe after being plucked from the sea

The crew of a local fishing boat which sank off Bradda Head last night have been praised for their actions.

The vessel - which hasn't been officially named yet - went down in minutes shortly after they put out a mayday call around 6pm last night.

Fortunately, another fishing boat was in the area and was able to rescue the men, who were in the water, before the lifeboats from Port St Mary and Port Erin reached the scene.

Mark Whiteley, assistant mechanic at Port St Mary RNLI, says it was a traumatic incident - and the crew's actions and fast reaction of the second boat had saved their lives.

Both men are said to be well.
