Five-week drainage scheme on Peel to Douglas Road

Department of Infrastructure says surface water in the area can pose a danger to motorists

A five-week scheme to improve drainage and reduce the risk of surface water and flooding gets underway on the Peel to Douglas Road tomorrow.

Temporary traffic lights will be in operation 24 hours a day between Greeba Castle and Crosby.

The Department of Infrastructure says there is a historic issue with standing water in the winter months in this area, which can pose a danger to drivers when it freezes.

The road will be dug up and the current drainage system replaced to increase capacity, with new pipework, gullies and manhole covers installed.

The project is due to be completed in the final week of November.
