Flood defences planned for Castletown

Harbour walls to be raised

The Department of Infrastructure has applied for planning permission to improve flood defences in Castletown.

In its application, the department says it wants to raise the harbour walls in the ancient capital to reduce the flood risk to nearby properties.

Last year, the government built a retaining wall and sluice to help control floodwater at the North end of Hope Street.

You can find out more about the latest application on the government’s website gov.im
