Flybe to maintain patient transfer service

The Patient Transfer Service to Liverpool is to be maintained by Flybe.

Three daily rotations to the city on weekdays, and two at the weekends, will continue to take patients to hospital appointments in the UK.

The announcement from Flybe yesterday (WED) ends speculation that one or more of their routes to and from the Island may close - with Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham all continuing to be served.

Last November, Flybe announced its closure of its Isle of Man base from the end of March - leading to the loss of nearly 50 jobs.

The Minister for Infrastructure, David Cretney, says whilst Patient Transfer was a consideration for the company, it is not the sole reason the Liverpool route remains:
