Fond tributes to veteran footballer Andy

 

Tributes continue to be paid this morning (Monday) to veteran Manx footballer Andy Cadwallader who died during a match at the weekend.

The 49 year-old striker collapsed on the pitch at Castletown Stadium near the end of the club's Combination game against Union Mills on Saturday.

He was given emergency first aid, but died before reaching hospital.

Mr Cadwallader had only played a few games for Castletown to help bolster the side, having spent many years at neighbouring Ronaldsway.

His sudden and unexpected death has been met with shock and sadness by all who knew him.

Ronaldsway club secretary Adam Caddick says he was a passionate supporter of the local soccer scene:
