The Douglas site reopens this weekend under a new name and management, following community fundraising and support from local organisations

The former Family Library in Douglas is set to reopen this weekend in a new form.

Now called the Manx Family Centre, it will be run by the Manx Family Community Association - an independent charity - and officially opens on Saturday.

A family fun day will take place from 10.30am to 4pm at the Westmoreland Road site to mark the occasion.

Centre Manager Sue Jolly says the reopening has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Islanders.

Help, support and commitment from suppliers, government and many individuals who gave generously through a Just Giving Page, or directly to the Manx Family Centre have made the opening possible.

The Manx Family Centre is collaborating with organisations including Manx Mencap, Sight Matters, Isle Listen, Live at Home and Autism in Mann - creating a stronger network of support and outreach across the Island.

In the coming weeks, the Centre will also relaunch its bibliotherapy and mobile library services, with extended opening hours to accommodate community groups, charities and Island businesses who require space for meetings or activities.
