Foxdale roadworks extend beyond TT

More time needed to complete major scheme

Foxdale highway improvement works will be going on for an extra two months.

That's the message from the Department of Infrastructure - it's because the department decided to acquire land necessary to carry out major works at the Mines Road junction.

It's set the work team back pre-construction.

The DoI says the team 'pulled out all the stops', but it wasn't enough to make up the time lost - that's due to additional 'unplanned works' revising the timetable.

It's issuing a fresh road closure notice from 3 April to 26 May to prepare the roads before TT begins.

It means the works will extend beyond TT - but the main road will temporarily re-open for the festival fortnight.

Then, it'll close again on 12 June to allow for remaining works to take place from the filling station to Mines Road - with a completion date set at mid-August this year.

The department has thanked residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation throughout.

It says they've been realistic about the challenges it faces.
