Freedom Travel reported to be in liquidation

UK gov't suggests it's closed, following Thomas Cook collapse

The UK Government website suggests the Freedom Travel Group Limited has gone into liquidation.

In a news release relating to the collapse of Thomas Cook, it lists a number of companies affected.

Among the information provided for customers, employees, creditors and shareholders, it says five KPMG employees were appointed as 'special managers' on Monday (23), to "assist the Official Receiver carry out his duties in the following retail and aircraft maintenance companies in liquidation" - one of which is the local firm.

Freedom Travel's Douglas branch has been shut since the collapse of Thomas Cook on Monday.

However, the Isle of Man Government's Companies Registry site still lists the firm as 'live', and not in liquidation.

The Freedom Travel Group is a franchise of Thomas Cook Co-operative Travel.

The company has issued a statement to Manx Radio, wishing to assure all of its clients that "it is doing everything within its power to try and find a resolution during this difficult period of time."
