Fresh influx of protesters arriving in London

Manx resident gives update after being arrested

A Manx resident, who this week became one of hundreds of people to be arrested for their part in climate change protests in London, says the Extinction Rebellion campaign is going from strength to strength.

Philippa Tomlinson spent a night at Lewisham Police station, after being carried away from the roadside on Parliament Square by six officers.

Speaking to Manx Radio this afternoon, she said the bank holiday has sparked a new influx of protesters to the English capital:

Activists have now left Heathrow airport, after being moved away from the main vehicle entrance.

The group says its message has been heard, despite not disrupting a single flight.

Many are still blocking roads in central London, with the current arrest count standing at more than 500 people.
