Approximately 1,200 already on-Island
The Department of Infrastructure has received 76 requests for new salt bins since last winter, which are now being assessed.
That's in addition to the approximately 1,200 around the highway network the Department owns and maintains.

Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall provided the update on the Island's preparedness for extreme weather events in the House of Keys this week.
He hit back at claims that there is a 'postcode lottery' regarding the availability of the service, saying if they aren't in your area, they're probably on order:
