GCSE results shape pupils' next step

Youngsters find out fate later this morning

The wait is nearly over for hundreds of year 11 pupils around the Island, as this year's GCSE results are released this morning (24 Aug).

Around 800 youngsters sat exams in almost 50 different subjects  in the spring. Today, they find out what grades they attained.

Whether heading into the world of work, or moving up to sixth form for A-Level studies, today's results will set the course.

Five A*-C passes, including English and maths, is widely seen as the key academic target for pupils by school leaving age.

Last year across the Island, almost 62% of youngsters achieved that in their exams.
