General election: nomination day getting close

Anyone thinking of standing for election on September 29 has until early next week to make up their mind.

Nomination papers have to be handed in to the constituency returning officers between 10am and 1pm on Tuesday (August 30).

The process will not be affected by the Manx Grand Prix, as it isn't a race day.

If racing doesn't go ahead on Monday because of the weather, roads around the course won't close until 2pm on Tuesday.

Potential candidates can visit gov.im/cso/election for information about their constituency returning officer, if they need to ask any questions.

There are currently 63 candidates, compared with 55 for the general election in 2006.
