Union criticises report recommendations
Growth of the 'insecure work economy' on the Island would be a 'dangerous game' which could badly damage labour rights - that's according to Unite's Eric Holmes.
His comments follow the release of the Taylor review in the UK this week, which recommends freelance workers or those on short-term contracts be reclassified as 'dependent contractors'.
This would afford them greater employment rights, but not to the level of those classed as full-time employees.
Mr Holmes says this doesn't offer enough protection and will result in exploitation by some employers, as well as the erosion of labour rights:
