
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says he's hopeful the government can help the Steam Packet Company avoid damage to its ferries.
Debris sucked into one of the fasctcraft Manannan's engines saw her out of action last week as emergency repairs had to be carried out.
Mr Gawne says he's been talking to the company about what could be done to reduce the danger of debris near the Island's harbours.
And he says his department can help stop potentially damaging items being washed out to sea:
