Government data breach reveals thousands of personal emails

Income Tax Division apologises for 'lapse'

There has been a second data breach by government in five months, in which thousands of people's personal emails have been revealed by the Income Tax Division.

 

An email sent out to a large number of recipients contained the information.

 

An apology has subsequently been issued, apologising for the 'lapse' and saying the ITD regards people's information as sensitive and confidential.

 

In December, a parent logged on to top up the child's Go Card for school bus travel and ended up seeing the personal details of someone else, including an ex-directory telephone number.
