DfE acts as main sponsor for the event
Government has spent almost £140,000 on an external awards ceremony in the past five years.
The figure's been revealed in a Freedom of Information request.
The Department for Enterprise has been acting as the main sponsor of the annual Media Isle of Man Awards for Excellence since 2020.
It's given at least £25,000 of funding to the ceremony every year since.
In 2023 however, it provided £30,000 of funding plus an additional £9,700 to pay for broadcaster and marine biologist Monty Halls to compere the event.
The DfE has also given a number of tickets as part of the arrangements - 15 in 2021, 10 in 2022, 12 in 2023 then 45 last year.
The department says the sponsorship agreement has been entered into in compliance with Financial Regulations.
