Government to meet with Steam Packet over isolation concerns

Chief Minister confirms investigation has been launched

Government says it will meet with the Steam Packet this week to discuss whether Covid-19 regulations have been broken.

Last week it was confirmed an investigation had been launched after concerns that Manx based crew weren’t following self-isolation rules.

Entry certificates issued to staff permit modified self-isolation – allowing the worker to travel between work and their home but not to go into the wider community.

However the Chief Minister said there had been a ‘difference of opinion’ over the expectations of what was required.

It led Paul Moulton, from Isle of Man Television, to quiz the Health Minister on what happens now:

Manx Radio has repeatedly contacted both the Manx Government and the Steam Packet Company for clarification – both have refused to comment.
