Government to offer grants for events celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Grant will cover up to 80% of total

Anyone planning a community event for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this year can claim a grant covering up to 80 percent of the total cost.

The official celebrations will take place over the extended bank holiday from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5th, but events are encouraged between April and September as well.

Community or voluntary groups and local charities can claim up to £1,000 for an event, while each of the Island's local authorities can get up to £5,000.

The events must demonstrate a clear link to the celebration of the Queen's jubilee in terms of theme and event activity.

They can take place from 1 April until 30 September and can include, but not be limited to, lunches, street parties, live music and entertainment, festival activities and specific exhibitions.

Those interested can apply using the online application form, and for any related enquiries you can email eventfund@gov.im.

Applications will close on 31 May.

Over the jubilee bank holiday weekend, the official events already organised include a Big Jubilee TT Rideout on Mad Sunday and the lighting of beacons across the Island and throughout the UK, Channel Islands and UK Overseas Territories.
