Government/BBC talks continue over licence-funding for over 75s

Will Corporation help Island pensioners?

Discussions are ongoing between the Isle of Man and the BBC in relation to the corporation's funding of a concession on the TV licence.

From 2018, the BBC will contribute phased funding towards means-tested TV licence concessions for over 75s in Jersey.

It will contribute one third of the cost in 2018/19, rising to the full amount from 2020/2021.

The BBC has committed to treating all Crown Dependencies equitably.

A statement from a Manx government spokesman says an announcement on the position will be made next year when the arrangements have been finalised.
