Six out of 16 are hybrid vehicles
Government has purchased six low emission hybrid buses.
The new additions, along with ten other buses, form part of a £3.7 million capital replacement programme.
The investment was a scheduled one, government says, as part of an ongoing modernisation of its fleet.
The aim is to "significantly improve vehicle emissions", whilst allowing current vehicles to be sold on while they are still in good condition.
Six Mercedes Citaro single deck low emission hybrid vehicles and ten double deck 'StreetDecks' are all equipped with WiFi and USB charging points.
The funds were included in this year's budget, and government says the move forms part of its commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
