GP surgery blames 'wholly insufficient' funding for closure

Snaefell Surgery has handed back contract

A GP practice which is set to close its doors says the decision is due to ‘wholly insufficient’ funding from government.

Snaefell Surgery has announced it is handing back its contract to the department of health and social care.

It means the 5,300 plus patients who are registered with the practice may have to find a new doctor from August.

In a statement the surgery has blamed the decision on the contract funding being insufficient to develop the practice in ‘any meaningful and positive way’.

It warns that this will have a ‘major impact’ on patients, and staff, unless the issue is resolved.

The department of health and social care says it's working to 'safeguard' affected patients. Click here for more.
