Victorian attraction relies on bright sunshine!
A popular Victorian attraction opens for the summer season today (2 May).
The Great Union Camera Obscura, on Douglas Head, is operated by volunteers from the Isle of Man Victorian Society.
It reopened to the public in 2005 after it fell into decay for many years.
This year the volunteers will have welcomed visitors and locals for 22 years.
The Obscura relies on bright sunshine to work so doesn’t open when it is raining or overcast by sea mist.
It'll be open on Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm and on Sundays and Bank Holidays from 11am to 4pm.
Spokesman for the Victorian Society Peter Kelly said: "First time visitors find it hard to believe it operates purely by mirrors and lenses and children have great fun watching their parents walking up and down outside."
