Consumption passes open today
Permission has been granted for the Island’s first designated space for medicinal cannabis consumption.
An application for the Green Lounge on Parliament Street in Ramsey was submitted in November last year.
You can find out more HERE.
The adult-only venue will allow those with a consumption pass to use their prescribed cannabis through vaporisation.
Confirming the news on Facebook, founder Maria Bostock said she was delighted planning approval had been granted.
She says that "after nearly three months of waiting, the decision had finally been made.
She adds: “While the paperwork crawled along, I’ve been working every single day to get the Lounge ready, and with intention.”
Consumption passes opened today for those wishing to obtain one and will become active once the lounge officially opens - which is hoped to be next month. (February.)
She also says that the project had tested her more than anything else, but had also shown what persistence looks like.
Speaking previously to Manx Radio, Maria and her co-founder Daisy-May Green said the aim was to challenge misconceptions and reduce the stigma surrounding medicinal cannabis:
