Tynwald to consider eleven proposals
The Leader of the Isle of Man Green Party says the Legislative Council needs to have its role 'clearly defined' by Tynwald.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday's (20 June) parliamentary debate on the Lisvane report, Andrew Newton, says having members of a body designed to scrutinise government be a part of it is a major issue.
Tynwald will consider eleven proposals designed to improve its functions - these include limiting departmental memberships, barring sitting MHKs from becoming MLCs, and granting more power to committees.
Mr Newton says there needs to be a clearer distinction between government and scrutiny:
