Guilty plea from drink driver who needed help walking down stairs

49-year-old caught three times over limit

A court's heard a Cregneash woman was so drunk she had to be helped to walk down stairs after driving home.

Forty-nine-year-old Naomi Callister, of Sound Road, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where she pleaded guilty to drink-driving on 20 July.

Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the court a concerned motorist followed Callister as her Hyundai weaved over the white line, forcing oncoming cars to avoid her.

The woman followed Callister home and called police.

When officers arrived Callister was extremely drunk and unsteady on her feet – she had two pop bottles containing alcohol hidden in her clothes.

At Police Headquarters breath testing equipment showed she was more than three times the legal alcohol limit.

She was bailed while pre-sentencing reports are prepared by the probation service and will next appear on 12 December.
