Karran raises matter in Tynwald
Concerns about the way health and social care officials have managed cases involving vulnerable families have been raised in Tynwald.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran issued colleagues with a series of anonymous case studies and disturbing allegations, calling for an independent inquiry to be set up.
Mr Karran said many vulnerable people were not being protected and claimed some families were being treated in an 'horrific way'.
However, he came under fire from members for not providing evidence to back up the allegations which, East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw said, could 'demoralise' a lot of the work carried out by children and family services.
Tynwald supported an amendment from Bill Malarkey which called on Mr Karran to provide full facts for the independent safeguarding body to investigate.
