High winds cause problems on Island roads

High winds have been causing problems for motorists on the Island this morning.

Numerous trees have been brought down around the Island, including on the Mountain Road, Glen Darragh Road in Glen Vine, Patrick Road, Bishopscourt, Mount Rule and Tholt y Will.

Workers from the Department of Infrastructure have been out since 6am to try and clear the blockages as they are reported. Problems on the roads can be reported by ringing 850 000.

The Mountain Road has been closed by police due to being blocked by a fallen tree, but earlier there was a one vehicle accident at Windy Corner.

Meanwhile, Loch Promenade, Douglas was closed between its junctions with Church road Marina and Victoria Street around midday due to falling debris and Marine Parade, Peel was closed until further notice between its junctions with Shore Road and Walpole Hill due to a damaged Lampost.
