High winds cause roof damage

Fire crews called to King's Court apartments

Fire crews in Ramsey were called to King's Court apartments just after six o'clock this morning (Thurs) after a section of the roof of the services/plant room there was dislodged by last night's high winds.

Working with the buildings maintenance team and Police, they secured the ground floor area to prevent members of the public being struck by loose debris, and then stemmed the flow of water into the apartments on the upper floors.

Officers stayed at the scene for about an hour.

A crew from Douglas Station was also called out this morning to secure a shop sign on North Quay that had been blown loose. It was removed for safety reasons.
