Highway works planned for Ballasalla

First two phases to begin mid-August

Part of Crossag Road in Ballasalla will close from mid-August for the first of two phases of highway improvements.

The road closure for phase one begins at the northern end of the ramp at Abbotswood and continues as far as - but not including - the junction with Phildraw Road.

Vehicular access will be maintained from there to the St. Mark's Road, and a diversion route will be put in place.

Malew Commissioners agreed to allow the DoI to park their works vehicles on the field - which is currently the home of the play area of local children.

The field will also be available as a temporary parking facility for residents, whose on-street parking is unavailable during the works.

In return for the use of the field, the DoI has agreed to lay a land drain in the wettest area of the field - which is prone to flooding - prior to reinstating the field and making good the boundary wall.

Commissioners then plan to replace the play area with new equipment.
