'No risk' from lead in water supply - MUA
The Chairman of the Manx Utilities Authority says the Island's water distribution network has no lead pipes at all.
This morning in Tynwald he faced questions about potential risks to public health from lead pipes, from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft.
But Alf Cannan MHK said 8,500 out of 50,000 household pipes may have lead sections that date back beyond the 1970s, when the use of lead pipes was abandoned.
He added a long-standing policy meant the MUA would replace those for free.
