Charity bids to revamp schoolrooms
A charity is hopeful government won't sink plans for a Internment Visitors Centre at Knockaloe by building a sewerage treatment plant on the site.
Work starts today (Monday) on revamping the nearby Patrick schoolrooms into the new centre by The Knockaloe Internment Camp Charity.
It has plans to create an entire visitor experience centred around what was the largest camp of its kind during the First World War.
However, the Manx Utilities Authority has earmarked the site, owned by the government, as a potential location for a sewerage facility.
Knockaloe Charity coordinator Alison Jones says it would be sad to see Knockaloe lose its historic value:
Call for remaining census forms to be completed
Bikers caught flouting Coast Road speed limit
TT 2026 to get underway with first qualifying sessions
Police issue provisional licence reminder for visitors
