'We are doing our best' says Crookall after DoI misses deadline
Tynwald will not be discussing the business case for relaying the horse tram tracks along the full length of Douglas Promenade later this month.
The Department of Infrastructure has missed the deadline to bring it to the May sitting of the court.
It could also miss the opportunity to discuss it at a Treasury board meeting today (13 May) after not submitting the relevant documentation.
The capital funding request to extend the horse tram tracks from the war memorial to the Sea Terminal was received by Treasury at the end of March.
It was considered by the board on 15 April and by the Council of Ministers the following day.
However it was then sent back to the DoI for more work.
Treasury says it’s now waiting for the department to submit project design and feasibility process documents.
In the House of Keys yesterday (12 May) Minister Chris Thomas was quizzed by the former DoI Minister Michelle Haywood about the delay:
Dr Haywood wasn’t the only MHK with questions but Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall said his department was doing its best:
The DoI says it will now aim to submit the business case to the Register of Business for the June sitting of Tynwald.
Earlier this month it was revealed that it could cost £2 million to reinstate the tram tracks which were supposed to be laid during the regeneration work on Douglas Promenade.
