Horse tram funding 'won't be sought for next year or two'

Infrastructure minister provides update in House of Keys

The funds needed to see horse tram tracks installed from the war memorial to the Sea Terminal on Douglas promenade won't be sought for up to two years.

That update was provided by the infrastructure minister in the House of Keys this morning.

Tim Crookall said adding the tracks will cost a further £1.5m, but he isn't prepared to ask for the funds for the next year or two:

The previous administration had intended to seek Tynwald approval for the funding in November 2021, to complete the work the following winter.

Mr Crookall added that those who use the promenade need a rest from the disruption of construction work in the area, but that he would like to see the tramway extended to cover the complete length of the prom.
