Case 'decoupled' from Tramway Terrace Project
The business case for the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway has been decoupled from the Tramway Terrace Project.
Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall has confirmed the move in response to a Tynwald Question for Written Answer from Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh.
Mr Crookall says there was a procurement process undertaken to appoint a contractor who is suitably qualified to undertake the Heritage Impact Assessment with respect to the Tramway Terrace Project.
Meanwhile, the decision was made to decouple the projects so as not to delay the submission of the business case for the completion of the Horse Tramway unnecessarily.
Currently, the horse trams only run between Derby Castle and Broadway, despite funding being granted back in 2017 to restore the full length of the track to the Sea Terminal.

In terms of a reinstatement, Mr Crookall says the business case is under final review, and the intention is to submit this to Tynwald at the 'earliest opportunity'.
