Hosepipe ban is working, says MUA

Water usage cut by 10% in first week of measures

The summer hosepipe ban has decreased water usage by 10% in its first week.

Manx Utilities enforced the measure at the beginning of August after the unprecedented dry spell caused a large drop in reservoir levels.

It's the first time a ban has been imposed in 15 years.

Advice on conserving water is still being issued to households - including avoiding washing cars and windows, and using dishwater to water garden plants.

Manx Utilities has thanked residents for cutting down, saying it is 'making a difference'.

It is not yet known when the ban will end.
