Icy conditions lead to several accidents on roads

Drivers told to take extra care

There have been several accidents on the Island's roads this morning (Thurs)

A cold night led to icy patches in many places.

Earlier a car slid off the Mountain Road near to the 33rd milestone.

There were no injuries reported, but whilst the Mountain Road is open, it is reported as slippery and gritters are out.

Police have also been attending an incident on the Mountain Mile. Traffic was temporarily halted while an ambulance attended.

Very slow or stationary traffic was reported around 8.30am heading up from Tholt y Will.

Down south there was an incident (8am) on Shore road Gansey and the road was reported as partially blocked.

Drivers are being asked to take extra care and be aware there could be ice on road surfaces in sheltered spots or rural roads in particular
